♦— (Per Press Association.) London. July 13. Baron Schroeder is negotiating with Mr Stewart, the Official Receiver, with a view to settle the action against the old directors of tbo Loan and Mercantile Ag«ncy Company. Fair Play publishes an article favorably criticising the present position of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company. It states that the amount already subscribed much exceeds the anticipation of the Directors ; £620,000 has been subscribed, viz., ±'375,000 in London, and i-250,000 in the colonies. This sum, with the quarter of a million which the Company is empowered to raise, places at its disposal nearly JE900.000 cash.
