Opposition to Insurance Bates.
(PRB PBBSB ASSOCIATION.! Woodviixb, This Day. At a meeting of burgesses. last night it was resolved to ask the Hawke's Bay Board of Underwriters to reduce insurance rates, which are 4 per cent, over the principal portion of the town. Failing reductions being granted, it was decided to invite tenders from substantial colonial and foreign offices for the total insurance of the town, estimated to be between £30,000 and £40,000, insurers pledging themselves to transfer policies to the office accepted. It was also . resolved to ask the Mayor to convene a public meeting to consider a water-supply scheme for the Borough.
