BANKRUPT ESTATES.
TO THE EWTOB" OF THE STAB* Sib, — I notice in a recent -issue, of the Star that tenders were called lor the book debts, among others, of Mrs E. Henderson. At the meetings! creditors in Feilding I, among others, attended, and it was then clearly shown, by the Government beer book that enough bad been sept out of the brewery, to enable > bankrupt to make a decent living. Everything was so unsatisfactory that on my motion, seconded by' Mr- W. D. Nicholas, it was decided That bankrupt produce within a fortnight a written statement of all her Feilding trans* actions. All this took place some two months ago, andapyetnotoneßingle word has been heard by the creditors , from the Official Assignee. Sir, in my opinion, stricter investigation* is necessary in the administration, of bnakrnpi> cies, and a more than^ superficial examination of the books in many of the estates is also called for. lam, etc., „ . .
