The Birinin^^^^^^^^^^^l Druids' Lodge, e *fl^^^^^^^^^| banquet in the u»r^^^^^^^^^^H Hall last evening, ">betwl^^^^^^H seventy persons ' sitting r !**|^^^^^^| sumptuous repast. This^lo^^^^^^| opened eighteen month* a 9 tl^i^H|lH membership ot^ighteen and hasSfsw^ a roll of about 4|^V m^mbersf^'he financial positiofHPMf&^odge ia also ' very satisfactory 15s there' is a balance of £80 in hand. Bra H. S. Munro, P.A.D., acted as chairman and was supported by 7 Bros. O. J. Ashton and E. Palmer. After full justice had been done iao the good things provided the usual toasts, intersperse} with songs, were duly honored. The toasts ' were—" The Queen,", proposed by the chairman ; " The Governor and Parliament of New Zealand," proposed by Mr W. Barlow ; " Birmingham Mount ameers' Lodge," proposed? by Mr D. McNair and responded >to .by Bro. O. J. Ashton, A.D. , •' Kindred Lodges and Friendly Societies," coupled with the name of Mr Morgan and Mr G. H. Sayweil, proposed by Bro. Ashton ; Mr Morgan, who opened this lodge, was cot present, but Hf r Baywell i responded on behalf of other friendly societies; "Birmingham Township," proposed by Mr R, Taylor* anci responded to by Mr A. H. Tompicins j Mr T. Lowes name was also coupled with the toast but that gentleman was unavoidably absent; "Cricket and Football," proposed by Mr £. Palmer and responded to fry Mr F. Barlow ; " Army and Navy," proposed by Mr H. S. Moss and responded' to by Mr Hodgson ; " The Chairman," proposed by Mr W. Bell ; " The Press," proposed by Mr W. H. MaiUand and responded to by Messrs Coombe , (Fbilding Star) and Robinson ; " The ■> Ladies," proposed by Mr F. Barlow and Mr H. S. Moss responded. Songs were given by Messrs Grant, Lovejoy, W. Barlow, J. Topp, F. B. Rom, R. Taylor, Le Prou, F. Barlow, W. H. Maitland, C. A. Sutherland, Fischer, Bell, Hodgson, a recitation by Mr H. t S. Moss and a jig by Mr F. B. Moss. The catering was supplied by Messrs Franklin-Browne Bros., 1 of Feilding, and was everything .that iould be desired, while Mr T., Lowes supplied first-class liquid refreshments. The - gathering dispersed at midnight, and the committee have every reason to feel satisfied with the result, everyone goinV home well pleased with the evening's entertainment, "
