« The election of Sir M aurice O'Eorke to the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives is not only a well deserved compliment paid to that gentleman, but is an evidence to the { electors that the business of Parliament will be conducted in a manner which will command the respect of ail sorts and conditions of men in this as well as the sister colonies. Sir Maurice is a man of wide experience, great strength of will, a commanding 1 presence, and possesses a thorough knowledge of his duties and responsibilities as Speaker of the House. We commend the Ministry for assisting to j place him in a position to which he is calculated to do the fullest honor.
