- ■♦ (PEB PBESB ASSOCIATION.) Pahiatua, June 21. A young man named George Young, working on; Piper Bros., stntiou at Makairo, noar Pahiatua, is believed to have been drowned. He left the station yesterdaj morning to come to town for a doctor. His horse waa found at daylight this morning on the opposite side of the Tiraumea river, which is in high flood; Constable Cooper has gone out to search for the body. Wellington, June 21. Six more informations have been laid against persons who escaped from the gambling saloon when the police raided it recently. Two young men, named Sage and Swanson, were fined £5 and costs for driving three horses which were in an unfit condition to be worked. The case bad been remanded for the appearance of the employer, but he showed lie had no knowledge of the state of the animals. The S.M. made some strong remarks, and said if the matter had been traced to the person really responsible for the ill-usage of tho horses he would have given him a good long term of imprisonment.
