A Harrow Escape.

AN ATLANTIC LINER COLLIDES WITH AN ICEBERG' (Per Press Association). New Yobx, June 18. An alarming accident occurred to the R.M.S. Ethiopia on the voyage from Liverpool to New York. The ■ steamer was in mid ocean when she collided with an iceberg. The Ethiopia was travelling at great speed at the time, and the force of the collision was so great that the vessel's bows were stove in. The shock caused tremendous excitement amongst the passengers. For some time the steamer was in imminent danger of foundering, but eventually it was recognised that she was safe. The artificial watertight bulkheads saved the vessel, and so pre- • vented a terrible disaster. The Ethiopia: is n steamer of 4000 tons, gross, and 2848 ■'■■ horsepower. She belongs to the Anchor line, established in 1856.
