Important Insurance Case.
I Per Press Association]. Wellington, This Day. In the Supreme Court the action brought by Mx Skey, Government Analyst, as executor in the estate of his son Ernest, to recover from the Mutual Life Association of Australasia £1500, the amount of a policy on his son's life, was begun. The quarterly payment for the renewal of the policy fell due on October Ist, but young Skey took advantage of the thirty days grace and on November Ist, when asked for payment, he gave a cheque for the amount and requested that the cheque be held until November 10th wheu it was presented and dishouored. He asked for extension of time until the 15th November. This was granted but the Company's agent alleges ho told Skey his life would not be covered On the 15th November Skey was killed by a traction engine at Featherston and the following morning the renewal premium was paid into a country bank to the Company 'B credit but was declined by the latter. The question is whether payment by a cheque which was dishonored was a legal payment. The case is proceeding.
