(J'EB PBESS ASSOCIATION ) Chbistchußch, June 14. At a meeting of the Education Board to-day, a motion " That the school committees of West Christchurch, East Christchurch, Sydenhatn, and the principal of Normal School be requested to arrange modification of the staffft and their salaries, reducing the outlay of their respective schools by 2J per cent, to take effect from October Ist next, was lost on the casting [ vote of the Chairman. It was stated that the salaries paid to East Christchurch amounted to £3,031 7s sd, to West Chiristchurch £2,519 16a 7d, Normal £2236 1 Is, and Sydenham, £2,s62 15s 9d. Total, £10,248.
