■» - The ordinary monthly meeting of the above was held at Sanson on Wednesday, 13th June. Present — Crs Ransom (chairman), J. G. Wilson, Strong, Hammond, Masters, and Robinson. The minutes of the previous meeting -were read and confirmed, and correspondence dealt with. Transfers of property were granted from Mrs Campion to Edmunds and A'Court, J. H. Stevens to H. B. Pollock, J. E. Nathan to Strong Bros., and Penny and Richmond to W. Penny and W. Richmond (in equal shares). Mr J. Miller was granted a license to slaughter on section 269, Awahuri and a transfer of license of a similar nature was agreed to from Woolven and Nesbit to Rutherford and Son. A letter was read from Mr Wright Stewart, offering, on behalf of a London syndicate, to purchase the tramway for £6000, with a view to extending it to Greatford, and asking the Council to sign an agreement to that effect. — It was decided to hold a special meeting on July llth, in order to make a " special order " necessary to sell the tramway. At the same time it was decided to initiate bye-laws regulating the traffic ou roads within the County, and to license vehicles plying for hire. The Overseer was instructed to alter the bridge at Boness' immediately in accordance with the report of the Chairman. Cr J. G. Wilson was appointed delegate to the Conference of County Councils, to be held in Wellington during the coming session. Nine tenders were received for a small contract for road formation near Oroua bridge. They ranged from 16s to 6s, at which latter price the job was secured by Mr Martin Doyle. Resolved, That a notice be fixed on Whisker's bridge, on Feilding road, notifying that that bridge is not safe for traffic of more than two tons. Resolved, That tlie Manawatu Road Board be written to asking them to lower the cutting and make the necessary provisions for a ford over the Oroua at Awahuri, whilo the bridge is closed for traffic. Several applications from ratepayers to have uecessary repairs to culverts and roads effected (as a result of the late heavy flood) were referred to the Overseer with instructions to act as speedily as possible. Accounts amountiug to £429 12s were passed for payment and the meeting terminated.
