The lnte Mr. George Dodds and a Scotch minister were a pood many years ago deputed to go from Berwick to Eyemouth to speak on the Temperance pic fori-i. There were those who, like many at present, regarded a'cohol as a good medicine, and there were others who appreciated it on dietetic grounds. Dodds looked about him, and al sys full of fun, seeing a hed^e-hog*, decided on a practical joLe. He placed the hedgehog in a pocket handkerchief, atid approaching his companion said : "Here is a pillow for you." The offer was gladly accepted, but in a moment the laggard felt the" progs^ of the hog and jumping up exclaimed : " What in the warl' is that?" " It's a good creatare of God, " was the solemn answer. " May be, " said the other, <* but it wasna intended for a pillow." "No," said the other, " but still it's a good creature of God*" The minister laughed, saw the force of the argument, and profited afterwards, it is said, by this truly pointed application. __
