Kiwitea County Council

« ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND EXPENDITURE. The estimates of the receipts and expenditure ot the Kiwitea County Council for the year ending March 31st, 1895, was placed before yesterday's meeting by the chairman, Mr Jas. Reid. They were completed on the working expenses of last year's results of the Kiwitea Road Board, which has now been merged into the County Council, but by a reduction in the rates of one-farthing in three of the wards — viz., Waituna, Ongo, and Oroua, the revenue will be slightly reduced. The estimated revenue from rates was £2498 13s 2d, Government subsidy £275, licenses £105, making a total revenue of £2869 13s 2d, while the estimated expenditure is — for road maintenance £2244 (the amount spent last year for this purpose), incidental and administration expenses £941 There is a credit balance of £179 12s 7d in favor of the Oroua riding, which is the only one having a credit balance. On March 31st, 1894, the bank account was overdrawn by £1676 13s 2d, and it was estimated that the expenditure for (he current year would exceed the revenue by £'494 19a sd, making a total overdraft on March 31st, 1895, of £2171 12s 7d, but these figures will be altered through the reduction of rates in three wards.
