A number of those offending have been arrested The Times' Vienna correspondent declares that the Vatican is opposing the civil marriage proposals in Hungary, with a view to disunite Austria and injure the Triple Alliance, which will not assist to restore the Temporal Power. Lisbon, May 10. It is stated that it is the President Peixoto who has taken umbrage at the Portugese Government, ' and that the rupture is owing to the refusal of the Portugese warships to yield Admiral de I Gama. The Embassies to Portugal have been recalled, St. John's, May 15. The elections in Newfoundland are creating a good deal of excitement. In St. John's those opposed to fresh elections broke ont in riot, aud defeated the Government supporters. The struggle was a desperate one, and many empty carriages were thrown over the cliffs.
