(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, May 10 The following awards have been made by Mr T. F. Cheesman, Curator of the Museum at Auckland, in respect of noxious weeds, grasses, and forage plants, for which the Government offered prizes: Weeds —First prize, £10, J. B. Armstrong, Christchurch ; second, £5, W. M. and J. A. Thomson, Duuedin. Grasses and forage plants — First prize, £25, Miss L. M. Kirk, Wellington; second, £15, J. B. Armstrong, Christchurch. These collections now become the property of the Government. The Department of Agriculture offers prizes for : Firstly — A complete system of marking sheep, other than wool branding, either wholly on ear or partly on ear and partly on face, and to include provision for registered age and stud marks ; first prize £10, second prize £5. Secondly, the best combination of ear marks, made with punch or nippers, for ear only ; first prize £5, second prize, £2 10s. Applications have to bo in by June 30th.
