Produce Markets.
Messrs Laery and Co., of Wellington, report under date May 7th : — Wheat — Although the volume of busi ocas passing is small, the market remains steady at late quotations. Choice milling is enquired for, and holders of this dis cription are firm in their demands. Fowl wheat has had some attentions during the week, at slightly improved prices. We quote choice milling (old) at 2s lOd to 2s lid ; prime, at 2s 9d ; fair average (new) at 2s 7d to 2s 8d ; foul wheat, 2s 4d to 2s 6d Oats — The market continues firm. Buyers however, are not disposed to operate freely at present prices, while holders on the other hand show no anxiety to effect sales. Southern growers are storing the bulk of their grain, a fact which has materially improved the tone of the market for the time being. We quote best short feed at 2a ; good, Is lOjd ; dis. coloured, at Is 9d ; Danish, at Is 9d ; Tartars, at 2s Id ; Duns, at Is lid to 2s. Onions — Stocks low, and values rapidly advancing. We quote prime at £8 to £8 ss, with a tendency to much higher prices. Flour— Best roller, £1 10s to £8. Potatoes — Considerable quantities have reached us during the week, and a slight decline has taken place in values. We quote prime table potatoes at 05s to 565 ; choice, a shade more ; medium qualities, 62s 6d. Chaff— Prime bright heavy lines are scarce at 72s 6d to 80s per ton ; medium to good are offering freely at 60 to 70s ; discoloured, 40s to 50s Hams and Bacon — Fair demand. Bacon, 7§d to Bd. Hams and Bacon, B'd to B|d. Eggs — Good enquiry. Limed, Is 3d ; fresh, la lid. Butler— London advices record a fur ther decline in value, and it is hardly likely that the English market will offer any inducement to shippers for some months to come. Supplies locally are heavy, but values are without alteration. Choice brands of separator, lOd ; ordin» ary 9d ; separator bulk, 8d ; prime dairy, 7d ; prime Bait, 7d per lb. Cheese — Moderate demand. Factory, 4Jd to 4£d ; dairy, 4*d per lb. Cocksfoot — Without alteration. Best machine dressed, 4.|d to 4^d ; good, 4jd ; bright undressed, 3^d to 4d ; discoloured, 3d to 3£d ; light seed, 2 id. Grasses — Crested dogstail, 2s 3d to 2s 6d per lb ; fierin, 65s per cwt , hnrd fescue, 60s to 62s 6d ; sheep fescue, 60s to 62s 6d ; meadow fescue, 755 ; medow foxtail, Is 4d per lb. m^ mm^ m .^ mmmmmmm^— m
