anntjai/report. The following report will be presented at the second annual meeting of the United Farmers' Alliance (Limited) next Saturday :—" Yuurdirect tors have pleasure in presenting to the 5 shareholders the second annual report , and balance-sheet for the period endt. ing 31st March, 1894, which on this J occasion only shows the working oi b the Association for 11 months, owing » to the alteration in the date of the anI nual balance from the 20th April to 3 the 21st March, The balance-sheet f shows a net profit for the 1 1 months a £728 9s, which, taking into consideration the serious commercial depression which has overshadowed the colony 1 for the whole of the period, may be 9 consiiered satisfactory. This amount r will go in reduction of the debit balance from last year. It was found \ necessary to procure other premises in 3 Wellington, and these were secured by purchase of the present site in Willis street. The Alliance has gained considerably by the change, baring the double advantage now of a good central position at a much lower rental. Favourable arrangements have also been made to remove into more suitable premises in Wanganui. The * Alliance is now importing direct from , English And Continental manufacturers its principal supplies, and as the i London arrangements give every sat- > faction, your directors confidently anticipate for next year a considerable ' increase of support from the share--1 holders— the chief thing necessary to make the United Farmers' Alliance [ the most successful Association of the kind in the North Island. Through the extreme tightness of the money market, auctioneering operations have ■ had to be suspended for a time. This ; entails the loss of £ 1 30 6b 2d, which has been written off. The Feilding and Birmingham yards are now ler f thus preventing a loss of interest on the auctioneering properties. Daring the past 11 months 135 new shares have been taken up by 52 new shareholders. In accordance with a resolution passed by the shaieholders and confirmed, the number of director* was reduced from 20 to 7. The, re? tiring directors this year are Messrs Lethbridge and Batchelor, both of whom being eligible, offer themselves for re-election, You will be asked to elect an auditor for the ensuing year, and also to fix his remuneration, — J* Martin, Chairman."— Post.
