». - - COMING MEETING OF SETTLERS AT KIWITEA.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAH. Sib, —May I draw the attention of Kiwitea County ratepayers interested in tlie opening of a road from Perry's line to Maekay's line, to the advertisement of the meeting at Kiwitea Hall on Thursday evening next. The decision of the meeting, whether for or against the scheme, will no doubt influence the County Council in dealing with the matter. As far as lam concerned, my only object in putting forward tliis alternative proposal is to try to settle a vexed question to the satisfaction of the ratepayers interested and at the same time effect a saving in the expenditureof the riding. I have no desire, however, to press the scheme any further if it does not meet the approval of those ratepayers who are likely to use the road. I am, etc., Wm. F. Jacob.
