Pohangina Notes.
That piece of road from the end of the metalled part of the Pohangina road to C'urrau s should be metalled hefore winter sets. If not done, it will seriously interfere with the traffic to and from our town, and so retard its progress. It will also be next to impossible for children to attend the State school ; in fact, that is oneof the principal arguments of those who think the school should be in the township. Messrs Adsett and Sons have nearly completed the tramway to the top of the cliff near the Beehive creek. This will open up a good supply of mixed timber, which will keep their mill going for some time. The metal iv the Harbour Board Block is particularly good. Now that totara is getting scarce, the durable qualities of matai for ordinary building are being recognised. Another article of export from Pohangina. Mr Roberts brought down a consignment of one ton of pork from his farm, fattened on pollard aud separated milk. With all our factories and creameries iv this district no doubt we bhall soon be independent of tho more porcine Southerners, and produce sufficient for our o%vu local markets. Mr James Vile, of Cheltenham, is improving his Harbour Board section. He felled the whole of the bush on it, some 215 acres.
