Earthquakes have caused widespread havoc throughout the country, Atlantia is nearlx in rnins. Hundreds of families there and elsewhere are homeless. A shock occurred while service was being held in a Cathedral in the city. There was a crowded congregation and a panic resulted, which was only allayed by the presence of mind of Mr Triconpis. Thebes has been utterly destroyed by shocks, and it is estimated that fully three hundred persons were killed.
