Correspondence.
RE LIGHTING.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAO. A letter (save the word) appeared in your issue of the 24th instant on this very important subject. I was extremely sorry that your correspondent had been so unfortunate in his youthful days, when he was naturally so lively and free with the members of the female sex, as to have found himself in such unfortuuate dilemmas as he described, I presume, from personal experience. But I must state that in my humble opinion that was the result not of scarcity of light in the streets, but partly owing to your correspondent's predominating shades of ignorance and folly, and partly owing to his negligence. At all events I regret that he was still so sore on these points as to be unable to leave them as things past when dealing with the important subject of lighting the town of Feilding. The inconvenience caused by the presont very limited provision made is apparent to everyone who " has eyes to see." Therefore, comment ou its necessity is unnecessary. But what is now wanted will only be supplied by the general public taking the idea up heartily, obtaining suggestions in connection therewith, and generally working together with a fixed object in view. Thanking you in anticipation, I am, etc., Pkactice. Feilding, April 28th, 1892.
