SAILOR'S HEAD MADE A FIGUREHEAD FOR A CANOE. I Per Phesß Association.! Sydney. This Dar Island news states that Captain Donald Gut, a trader well known in New Zea land, has been murdered by the natives of Mono Island, in the Solomon group. They tomahawked the unfortunate man in order to obtain his head for a new war canoe. One of HfM, ships will be instructed to proceed to the scene of the ma6siacre and punish the natives.
