Manslaughter by a Youth.
Melbourne, April 16. An extraordinary tragedy occurred at Sydney on Sunday, the 15th ins*. Nicholas Boffa, an Italian musician, aged 30, repeated to a lad named George, aged 15, a request of the boy's mother that he should go to bed. Young George retorted that he did not want to hear any more from either Boffa or Mrs George. As it was past ten o'clock they both repeated the request, whereupon young George took up a leaded stick, and hit the Italian a tremendous blow on the top o"f the head. Boffa was rendered insensible, and was conveyed to the Sydney Hospital where he died a tew minutes after his admission. The murdered man was a neighbour of Mrs George, and lived on harmonious terms with her. Airs George says she has been an* able to control her son for some time past, and is deeply concerned at his terrible act Youn<« George, who is a tea packer bj occupation, was arrested. At the Coroner's inquest the jury returned a veVdict of manslaughter against George, who was committed for trial to the next Central Criminal Court. Bail was allowed. — Post correspondent.
