Messrs Lethbridges' Feilding Property.

AN OFFER TO SELL TO THE GOVERNMENT. For some time past the property of Messrs Lethbridge and Sons adjoining the Feilding Borough has bean in the market, and the owners recently made an offer to sell it to the Government at the Land Tax valuation. A reply was received from the Surveyor-General, Mr : Smith, asking for particulars and stating that an official would be sent up to in spect the property, which consists of an area of something over 7000 acres. Subsequently Mr F. V Lethbridge, while in Wellington, interviewed the SurveyorGeneral on tho subject and was informed that it Wd6 not probable the Govt- anient would consider the offer until the end of the present financial year which ends on March 31st, 1695, as they had already been offered several desirable properties in various parts of the colony. Messrs Leth bridge sold the Halcombe property conaiscine; of 883 acre?, a few dajs «go to Mr Cornfoot and it is their intention, if the Government do not accept their offer, to cut up a portion of the estate joining the Borough into small sections and offer them for sale immediately. There can be no question that this will be an immense benefit to this district, and enable a number of small farmers to settle in its immediate vicinity where a ready market will be available for their produce.
