Meeting of the Wanganui Education Board Executive.
A meeting of the Executiye Committee of the Board of Education and Board of Governors of the Girls' College was held yesterday afternoon. Three tenders were received for tbe erection of th- new gymnasium, and that of Messrs Russell and Bignell for building and appliances was accepted. Annie Small was appointed pupil teacher at theGirla' School in place of Mabel Ballautyne, transferred to Max* welltown, aud Anuie Carson appointed cadet at the Infant School. Eleanor Anderson, cadet at Terrace End, appointed pupil teacher at Campbelltown. Tho Long Acre Valley settlers havinp; erected a school building for un aided school it waa decided lo supply necessary furniture aud to approve of the appointment of Miss James as teacher, Bubject to the Inspector's report. Additional furniture and appliances were ordered to bo furnished in case of a number of schools Several vacancies and transfers were considered and recommendations to the Board agreed to, A number of accounts were passed for payment. % Regulations drawn up by Mr Blmr for the granting of scholarships I at tho Teohnioil School wore considered j and approved of. — Chronicle.
