We learn from the Standard that at a meeting of the Manawatu Mounted Rifles, held on Saturday last, it was decided to fire a match with the Manchester Kifles next Saturday, the following team being chosen ; Pringle, Munro, Browning, Llojd. fcott, Rogers, Ingley and Hosking. 'lhe Government gold medals lor Vol unteers for 1894 have be6n won bj the following : — Gold medals for the best shot in ibe North Island— Private J, Moose* roan, Wangaaui JRifles, $8 points j South Island— Sergeaut Kellar, Eumara, 92 ; gold and silver medal for the second best shot in the North Island—Colour-Ser-geant Okev, Taranaki Bifles, 85 ; South Inland, private Morrison, BJenbeim Rifles The silTer mortals for tho best sfyot in the districts were won as follows— Taranaki —Private Hicks, Hawera Mounted Rfles, 76 ; Wanganui— Priyato Hooker, Wangaoui Bifles, 82.
