Waituna Notes.
[FROM OUB OWN COBHBSPONDEJfT.I The residents of this, and surrounding districts, held a tea meeting at the Beaconsfield Church on Thursday for tho purpose of procuring funds to help to pay off the debt on the church. Tea was on the tobies at 5 p.m. and an excellent spread was provided for all comers. After the tables had been cleared the church was densely packed for the meeting, many not being able to get sitting room. The choir sang Sariky, and children's Hosannas, which were much appreciated. Miss Grice sang a solo very sweetly, and Mrs^Tolljr aod Miss Grice sang, very nicely,' the Convent Bells. Miss Linton and Mr Fergusson gave a dialogue, which was - very amusing. The Rev. Mr Grindlv and Mr Murray gave interesting addresses, and added some sensible suggestions for the future. Mr Benson, the Treasurer, announced that the total proceeds from the meeting amounted to £8 4s which reduced the debt about one third. A vote of thanks to the ladies who SO kindly provided the good things for the tea, and to the choir, for their help in passing such a pleasant •veuing, was duly passed.
