The Licensing Elections.
(Per Press Association.) I Dunkdin, April 17. i The Colonial Treasurer replying to i Mr W. Hutchison says : — In the matter I of the ballot papers no instructions were issued by Government to tho Returning Officers respecting section 17 and the third schedule or upon any other matter connected with the conduct of the licensing election or local option polls As to informal votes Government consider it undesirable to furnish a legal opinion as the matter is coning before the courts, but promises enquiry into all cases improperly struck oil' the roll on receiving the list of names.
