Trouble Looming Between Wool Kings and Shearers.
20,000 SHEABEKS AFFECTED. (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Sydney, April 16. Mr Rao, a member of the. Shearers' Council, denies the statement of paatoralists that they have made no reduction in shearing rates, and he claims that a substantial reduction has been effected. He says the shearers will strongly resist a reduction, and will also fight against the clause which it is alleged practically makes the employers sole arbiters in all dis putes. Mr Rae declares this point is of a more vital importance than the question of reduction in rates. If the clause is assented to it would result in the death of the Shearers' Union. In his opinion there will be trouble over the matter, and fully 20,000 shearers will be affected by the struggle, taking the average reduction all round at 28 per hundred sheep, Afr Rae contends this would mean a grain to the squatters or a loss to the shearers of £60,000 per annum.
