The other sixteen applicants are Australian. , The South British Insurance Company * declare an interim divideud fur the half <■ year at the rate of 10 per cent, per annum. 1 In tho Supreme Court Walter Tibbutt i was convicted of faihng to keep proper x books nrior to his bankruptcy, and was , sentenced to one week's imprisonment. As this term dated from the commence merit of the sessions, the accused was dis * charged. t The Auckland Educational Institute " hare suggested to the Board of Education ■, that the opiu on of the inspectors should . be considered of first importance in the • selection of teachers for promotion, also that in making nominations for appoint- . 1 meut^ the choice of committees should be < limited to the three or four teachers for promotion. The Board decided to- inform * the Institute that applicants of teachers for vacancies are forwarded to the committees by resolution of the Board.
