Edward Parkerson, formerly accoun tant for Harper and Co., has been arrested on a charge of embezzling 4*400, the monies of the firm. Lyttrlton, March 8. The Customs officials at Lyttelton found a box of tobacco, 281 b, and 200 cigars uncustomed goods — on board a. harbour steamer, the John Anderson. The vessel was seized, but upon tube owners depositing a cheque with the Department, pending the case being disposed of by the Magistrate, she was al lowed to ply her excursion, &c.
