(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. i Wellington, April 5. At the New Zealsnd Alliance meeting, ou the motion of the Rev. E. Walker, it was resolved, " That a monster petition be got up requesting Parliament to tako an early plebescite of the people respecting the importation, manufacture, and sale, of alcoholic liquors." In tho course of an addross the Rev. E. Walker said it was the intention of the Prohibition party to present a petition to Parliament praying that a plcbeHcite to be takcu on the direct issue of whether alcoholic liquor should he sold in the colony or uot. If the people said they were in favor of prohibition that would be a clear indication of the character of the next Parliament, and he thought, therefore, that they had every chance of seeing prohibition carried iv New Zealand.
