Wellington Acclimatisation Society.

« A meeting of members of the local branch of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society, and others interested, was held at Mr Bray'e office last evening. Present — Dr Johnson (in the chair), Messrs Bagnall, Bull, Curtis, Haybittle, Sandilands, Sharpe, and Sherwill (secretary). Letters were read from Mr Ruthorford, secretary of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society, with a draft of the proposed rules for sub committees for adoption, or otherwise. Proposed by Mr Sandilands, seconded by Mr Bagnall, That the rules as submitted >>y the Wellington Acclimatisation Society as read, be adopted, —Carried. Pioposed by Mr Bull, seconded by Mr Sharpe, That seven be the number of the sub committee, and that four form a quorum. The members of such committee must be either the holder of a game license, a fishing license, or a subscriber to the funds of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society of not less than £1 Is.- Carried Proposed by Mr Bull, seconded by Mr Curtis, That the committee consist of Messrs Sherwill, Johnston, Curtis, Bagnall, Sharpe, Haybittle, and Sandilands.—Carried. Proposed by Mr Sandilands, seconded by Mr Curtis, That the following be the officers of this branch : — Dr Johnston, chairman ; W. G. Haybittle, treasurer ; H. L. Sherwill, secretary.—Carried, Proposed by Mr Haybittle, sec onded by Mr Sandilands, That applications be invited for the position of Hanger (for shooting and fishing) for the ensuing twelve months at a salary of £20 ; and that the chairman, Mr Bagnall, and the secretary be a committee to define his duties and open applications aud accept the same. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Haybittle, seconded fey Mr Bagnall, That Mr Sandilands be appointed honorary solicitor to the local branch of the Wellington Acclimatisation society. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Sharpe, secouded by Mr Sandilands, That 6d a head be offered for all shags shot within the district, and heads to be produced, up to £/>.— Carried. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
