Romantic Marriage.

[Per Mail Steamer] Tho San Francisco Chronicle of Februnry 16th publishes the following under the heading of " Tied on the Deep," An elopement and marriage at sea occurred on the Oceanic Company's steamer Alaweda, which arrived yesterday from the Antipodes. The contracting parties were James William Trivatie, an Auckland drummer, about 28 years of age, and Miss Jnne Graham Reid, of Dunedin, New Zealand, who is just 18. The marriage ceremony was performed in Cuptain Morse's cabin bj the ltev. J G. Tatham, of Sydney, who was a passenger on the steamer. It seems that tho mother of the bride was very much set against young Trivatie. She selected another young man for her future son-in-law, and wished to have her daughter marry according to her wishes. The young lady, j however, waa a 9 set in her way as her mother, and outwitted the family' by eloping with Trjvatie, who had been a schoolmate. A brother of the bride gave her her trousseau at Sydney, she having left hor home with no baggage. The bride's father is an engineer on one of the Union Co's steamers. On the steamer, the lov ers were most discreet Before the boat left Auckland, the groom spoke to the agent, Mr Tom Henderson, of the Union Steamship Company, and it was agreed that the pair should be married at 6ea. This matrimonial affair was quite an event on the steamer.
