SECOND DAY.
The weather this morning was * very threatening and toward noon a gusty wind earned with it light rain. The attendance was not so good as yester- r - :- day. Following are the results up to the time of our going to press :— Denbigh Stakes Handicap, of 60 soys; second horse to receive 5 sots, from the stakes; nomination 1 sot. ; acceptance 1 sot. One mile. 21 Mr A. S. Lovejoy's Musketeer, , 7-1 (Watt) 1 110 Mr £. Calthrop's Chatterbox, 7-6 2 (Jenkins) ■'". 71 Mr T. Howe's Goodwood, 7-0 • 8 (Murphy, Blbs OTer) Magazine, 7-8, King John, 7-0 also started. A magnificent start was effected, all the horses getting away well together. Goodwood's colours were to the fronJLat the back of the course, and he led to the turn into the straight, where Musketeer and Chatterbox went to the front and finished in the order named, the former winning by about three lengths. Totalisator, 835 ; dividend, £14 7s. Time, Imin4s 2 -ssec. Second Handicap HundLbs, of 50 sots. ; second horse to .receive ssovs-from the sstakes; nomination 1 soy.; acceptance 1 sot. One mile and a half. 80 Mr W. H. IGeorge's Pill, 9-9 1 (A. Hall) 129 Mr T. T. Watts' Oaklands, 10-3 (Kingan) 104 Mr J. Green's Sunbeam, 9-0 (Morris) Unity 9-2 also started. A good start was effected and Unity assumed the. lead, with Oaklands second. Passing the stand for the first time Unity was still in front with Sunbeam second. Going round to the back of the course Sunbeam went to the front, and Hall sent Pill at a merry pace. Coming round the bend to the straight the field were racing well together, in taking the last jump Unity fell (giving his rider, Holmes, a severe fall). Oaklands was slightly in front at this stage and Hall put the whip on Pill who passed the judge's box a neck in front of the former. Totalisator, 364 ; dividend, £1 4s. Time, 2-56 4-ssec. Second Hakdhcap Hack Hurt les, ol 35 sots. ; second horse to receive 5 soys. from the stakes ; nomination 1 soy. ; acceptance 10s.' One mile and a quarter. 101 Mr W, B. Tuck's Entey, 10,7 I (Laing) 91 Mr C. Chubbin's Lonely, 11-0 2 (Cameron) 120 Mr R. Kingan's Tenby, 10-4 8 (Owner) Tit Bit, 9-7, also started and got the best of the start. This position she kept to the back of the course, where Entry and Lonely raced together to the front, the former winning by about two lengths. - Totalisator, 364; dividend, £Q 4s, Time, flinin 25 2-sth sees.
