Mr J. E. Heury wrote to the stewards of the Wellington Racing Club offering to compile the handicaps for the hack events at their autumn meeting in May next, aud in a most generous manner asked that tho usual fee for this work be handed over to the widow and family of the late Mr Alfred King. Tho Stewards havo accepted Mr Henry's offer with thanks. In addition to the two Auckland machinists, who won £1800, tho following were prize winners in Tattersall's sweeps on the Australian Cvp :— No. 1, 10,000 at 10s each Wm. Carmody, Youanmite, Dookie, Victoria, £450 ; H. Fairbank, Broad Bay Peninsula, Dunedin, New Zealand, £-270. No. 2, 50,000 (closed with 36,000) at ss— J. Hetherington, Burwood road, Auburn, Victoria, £3240 ; C. Myett, Woongarra Grange, Bundaberg, £972; Mrs M. Bolger, 60, Erskine street, Sydney, £648.
