Kiwitea County Council.

The ordinary meeting of the above Council was held on Saturday last, at 2 p.m. Present— Councillors Reid (chairman), Williamson, Jones, Morton, Homer, Jacob, and Shannon. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. 'Correspondence was received as follows : — From Messrs J . J. Bryce and others, drawing the Council's attention to a portion of the Whare road, locally known as " the bog hole," and requesting the Council to have •something done to same this summer. f From A. J. Fitzherbert, drawing Council's attention to the fact that the contractor for making the road through the Pukihikura Village Reserve has not yet commenced the work. From M. Fitton, applying for slaughtering license, on section 186. From Commissioner Crown Lands, stating that the interests ■ of J; ,JSL Speed in section 25, West Waitapu, and A. G. Smith in section 45, Block XI, Ongo, have been cancelled by the the Land Board. From J. Hammond, stating that he would metal 1 1 £ chains of -the bad part of Whare road known as " bog hole" for the «urn of ,£42 Ids, and would wait for payment until the next rate is struck. From H. H. Richardson, clerk Rangitikei County Council, forwarding copy of letter received from Lands and Survey Department relative to the subsidy for the Otara bridge, also forwarding copy of resolution passed by the Rangitikei County Council at a meeting held on March 3rd relative to the construction of a proposed* bridge over the Rangitikei river at Otara. i"The Chairman stated that the sum of £1250 voted for the Otara bridge would not be available after the 31st March next, and that £1250 would be placed on the Parliamentary Estimates for the said bridge next year. v BESOLJ7TIONS. : s • Resolved that the Council endorse the action of the Chairman in authorising the Engineer to draw up plans for the Otara bridge. Resolved, That the application of M. Fitton for a slaughter license be granted, fee to be £1. The tender of T. H. Whishaw,- at £23 11s 6d, for the collection of the dog tax was accepted/and the' Council adjourned. ■ J '
