Kiwitea Road Board.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday, there being present Wardens J. J. Williamson (in the chair), T. R. Taylor, Jas. Reid, Homer, Jones, 1 Morton and Powell. The minutes of the previous meeting were rend and confirmed. Correspondence. From John Stephenson, Pesmberton, stating that he had been oyor-clmrged for flog tax, and requesting to have balk nee refunded. From H. John, inquiring whether Mr Haggerty was employed by the Board to work on the Oroua Valley road. From E. Sandeman, Birmingham, asking to have the names of Mrs M. 1 Richardson, E. Leprou and R. L. ■ Birch, substituted for that of Mr Thos. Lowe on the rate roll, for sub-sections , 2, 3 and 4 of section 6, Birmingham. ', From Alex. Morgan, Aramoho, requesting payment for felling road line, section 1 2, Block VI, Pemberton, completed over three years ago. From £. Short, requesting payment for felling road line on Pararorangi road. i From Thos. Smith, Palmerston N., applying to have name of Mrs K. Lock • yer placed on the rate roll for section 15, Block VI, Apiti, in place of his own. From J. .Knox, Birmingham, applying for payment for felling bush on Oroua Valley road finished on April 1 19 th, 1892. From W. and A. Bosher, Pemberton, asking if their thirds were available, if so they would like them spent in making bridle-track on Mangaonako road. From Mrs E. Gossey, asking Board to form road from Edward street to . her section. From H. J. Hayns, Secretary Poi hungina Road Board, enclosing cheques to the value of £201 2s 4d, amount of indebtedness to the Kiwitea Road Board. 1 From Secretary Palmerston North Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, , informing the Riwitea Road Board that the former had allocated the proportion of expenditure for Hospital and Charitable Aid purposes for year 1894-95 at 5s lOd in the £1000 of rateable value. Amount payable by the Kiwitea Road Board is £114, but the payment of only £58 12s 6d was requested at present, the balance to be called in at the expiration of three months from date. RESOLUTIONS. Resolved, That the alterations in rate roll, as requested by Mr Sandenian, be made. Resolved, That the Secretary apply to the Poh angina Road Board for the thirds from Messrs Howie, Mcßeth, and others, and call tenders Jfor the necessary work as money was in hand. Resolved, That the thirds in hand due to roads in the Apiti Wards which have carried their polls, be placed at fixed deposit. Resolved, That the Clerk be instructed to take proceedings to take the land required to complete the road through the Mayfield property under the Public Works Act if not settled otherwise within a month. Resolved, That the necessary steps be taken to borrow sufficient money, under the Government Loaus to Local Bodies Act, 188 C, to form and metal Mqßeth's line, from tho Kimbolton road to the Junction road and from the latter road through to the Kiwitea river. Resolved, That the Engineer be instructed to have the cemetery fenced, and about one acre cleared up for survey into blocks for burial purposes. Resolved, That the following tendors for road works be accepted, viz : Waituna Valley Road, 92 chains (No. o contract), Behrendt and Strawbridge, £3 3s Gd per chain ; Kiwitea-Tapuae road, 60 chains (No. 2), J. A. McDonald, 10s per chain ; No. 3, 1 20 cjiains, Charles and fylurpliy, £1 10s per chain ; No. 4, Mannagh, £1 6 s Cd per chain ; Mangoira road south, 20 chains (No. 1), McKiunon, £46. The usual monthly accounts were passed for payment and the Board adjourned.
