Sydxky, March 14 A woman named Bayley, residing at Balmain, butchered her five year old child to death with an American axe The woman was found to be insane, and bas been removed to the lunatic asylum. When the Houso of Assembly went into Committee to consider the Military Estimates, efforts wero made to obtain from the Premier recommendations contained in the Commandant's report, but Sir G. Dibbs denied that the report bad been re ceived by the Government. Mr Haynes declared the document, which was a most important one, had been intercepted by the Premier, and had never reached the Cabinet. Sir Gcorga Dibbs then admitted that he had received the document, which, however, he explained did not have any bearing on the Estimates, and as it was intended as a slap in the face for him he had returned it. Sailed — Today, Mararoa and Tasmania for Auckland. Sbisbanf, This Day. Heavy rain has fallen along the watershed. The Brisbane river and streams are rising, and a flood is feared.
