_ + SURRENDER OF THE REBELS. (per press association). Bio de Janiero, March 14. The whole population of the city withdrew to the suburbs yesterday, wlien a heavy bombardment began upon the insurgents' fleet, to which one rebel fort replied. The remainder were silent. The Government fleet entered the harbour, and all the rebels lowered their flags, and the surrender was unconditional. The French and Portugese warships refused to give shelter to the insurgents' officers. Admiral Gama is reported to be aboard the British man -o' -war Sirius. Melto is on board the Aquadiban, which is out at sea.
