The Late Dunedin Murder Case.

(PKK FBESB ASSOCIATION.} Donkdin, Mardb 12. The trial of Richard Dobson and E. Berhardt Kufner for the murder of Wni. Mudge, at South Dunedin on Christmas Eve, was commenced to-day, and when the Court rose only five witnesses had been examined. The evidence is scarcely different from that at the inquest and Police Court. Charles Aston, nephew of the murdered man, and who was himself stabbed, was cross-examined at some length. Fred. K. Stally, in reply to a question, described the knife Kufner was flourishing in the hotel some time before the fracas. This differed from the two knives exhibited. When asked why he did not describe it before he said ho was never asked the question, and the Crown Prosecutor admitted he had not.
