The Stock Market.
Charles Carr reports : — I held stock sales in Birmingham and Feilding on the (ith and 9th instants respectively. In both places the attendance was large, and the yards were well filled with good classes of stock, especially in Feilding where 200 head of cattle iind KOOO sheep were yarded. Bidding was much brisker, and I succeeded in selling most of the stock under the hammer. The prices realised were not much in advance of recent values, except good young ewes, which in some cases fetched 2s over the reserve. Quota tions : — Birmingham. — 2-year-old heifers, £2 19s 6d to £3 3s ; store cows, £2 os to £3 Is. Ewes, 2, 4, and Gtooth, 8s lOd ; 4-year-old ewes, Gs to 8s ; old ewes, 9d to as 3d ; wethers, forward, 8s 9d ; shorn lambs, small, 2s to 3s Gd ; woolly lambs, small, 4s. Feilding. — Weaners, £1 9s Gd to 35s ; 18-months cattle, £2 3s to £2 11s; cows, store, £2 19s to £3; 2^-year bullocks, £1 Gs to £4 9s ; fat cows, £4 15s ; fat steers, £5 2s. Sheep. 2-tooth Roinney ewes, bred by G. Wheeler Esq., 12s Id ; 2-tooth ewes, 7s to lls Gd ; 4 -year-old ewes, Gs to 9s ; old ewes, 2s Gel to 5s ; lan.bs, shorn, 4s to 4s 9d ; woolly lambs, 5s Id to 5s 4d ; wethers, 7s to 9s 2c! On behalf of Stunwjiy Church Building Fund, eight 2-tooth Romney rams, bred by G. Wheeler, Esq., averaged £2 15s per head.
