The Swiftest Cruiser Afloat.

The new cruiser Powerful, which is about to be built for the Engli&h Navy, will be, it is stated, the largest, swiftest, and most powerful cruisei afloat. She is to be supplied with ;i set of tubulous boilers of the Bell ville type, similar to those now bein<; fitted on board the gunboat Sharp shooter, at Davenport. When com pleted, the Powerful's continuous s^a speed is to be 20 knots, while on an eight hours' natural draught contractors' trial the speed will be 22 knots, and on a four hours' forced draught trial 2-i knots is expected. As tho vessel will have a displacement of 14,000 tons, these speeds, if attained, will be remarkable.
