Departure of the s.s. Gothic.
A VALUABLE CARGO. SIR GEORGE GREY LEAVES FOR j HOME. j (PEB FBESS ASSOCIATION). Wellington, March 8 The Whine Star Liner, Gothic, sailed for London via Bio this afternoon. She leaves on her maiden trip from the colony under the most auspicious circumstances, being a full ship, both as regards passengers and cargo. She has 106 passengers in the saloon, and 57 in the steerage, and takes 64,832 carcases of mutton and lamb, Vesides 10,675 legs of lamb. An effort will be made to break the record time between New Zealand and London, and she is expected to accom* phah the voyage in 36 or 37 days. Among her passengers is £ir Geo. Grey who states that he really has no plans m regard to his visit to England. He has taken advantage of the Gothic's trip in the hope that the sea air and complete rest may restore his health soiaewbat. If his health is sufficiently restored, he will probably come out again by the return trip of the Gothic, but he may remain longer at Homo. Meantime he will not re sign his seat while there is a chance of his being out in New Zealand again to take up his legislative duties next session.
