V.R.C. MEETING. (FEE PBESS ASSOCIATION.) Melbourne, March 7. McGowan, besides a terrible kick just ! above the temple, bad bis cbest staved in, and several ribs broken. He leaves a wife and two children, in comfortable circumstances. Buxton has three ribs fractured, besides internal injuries, but is progressing favourably. Walker, on Valalu, and Stevenson, on Tullamore, also fell at the same time, Stevenson escaping unhurt, whilst Walker, besides being severely shaken, was cut about the face. The accident is supposed to have happened through a dog crossing the course, though from the press stand.it appeared as if Valala stumbled. Carnage has been withdrawn from the Champion Stakes, for which Patron is nominally first favourite, though there is no betting.
