The above meetiug will be beld tomorrow and Friday, and given fine weather the racing should bo very good, as the horses which have accepted are amongst the fastest in New Zealand. For the first day's races " Sport " fancies the following : — First Hurdles — Strephon, 1 ;Couranto, 2 ; Oaklands, 3. Hack Hurdles— Narrate, 1 ; Tramore, 2 ; Nanakia, 3. Cvp — Royal Rose, 1 ; Rangipuhi, 2 ; Rosefeldt, 3. Hack Flat-Eothen, 1; Dandy, 2; Hinau, 3. Welter— Stranger, 1 ; Pill, 2 ; "NVeka, 3. Two- Year-Old Stakes— Blarney, 1 ; Tartan, 2 ; The Friar, 3. Flying— Royal Rose, 1 ; St Laura, 2; Poinsettia, 3. Royal Rose may not win this event, the result depending on her running iv the Cup, and if Monte Carlo has recovered from his attack of influ • euza he should secure first honors. (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION*. Wanganui, This Day. All the horses have arrived for the W.J.C. Autumu Meeting commencing to-morrow. Hotel accommodation is severely taxed, so large is the number of visitors. The popular fancies for the different events are: — Hurdles— Strephon or Mutiny, Liberator being a nonstarter. Hack Hurdles - Tramore. Cup — Liberator, Rosefeldt, Royal Rose. Two-Year-Old Stakes — Blarney. Flying — Royal Rose or St. Laura. Welter — Weka. Y.R.C. .MEETING. Melbourne, March 6. The Cup day was close and muggy and as it looked like rain the attendance was only moderate The victory of Broken Hill in the Cup was quite a providential turn up for the bookmakers, but the South Australian horse was well supported by stable connections at long odds. Details of the racing : — Maiden Stakes. Lord Randolph, 1 ; Royal Master, 2; Galanfc, 3. Time, 2u>in lli'sec. Ascot Vale Stakes. — Destiny, 1 ; Bonnie Scotland, 2 ; Dryden, 3. Time, lmin lujsec. Hurdle Race. — Ebor, 1 ; Manson, 2 ; Impostor, 3. Time, smiu 6sec. Australian Cup, of 1000 soys ; 2} miles. — Brokeu Hill, 1 ; Portsea, 2 ; Light Artillery, 3. Thirteen started. Won by three quarters of a length. Tarcoola was fourth. Time, 4min 3jsec. Junior Haudicap. — Goldsmith, 1 ; Bradford, 2 ; Athata, 3. Time, lmin 2|sec. Bourke Handicap. - Hova, 1 ; Annon, 2; Ilium, 3. Twenty-two started. Time, lmiu 27soc. Three horses fell during the race. MacGowau, the rider of Liuburn, received a fearful fracture of the skull, and expired iminediate}y afterwards. Buxton, who rode thp winner of the Australian Cup, had thp niquut on Principle in this race, and sustained serious injuries thrpugh the accident. '
