Sporting News.

The Government totnlisator tax on the three days' race meeting at Palmerston last week amounted to £142 — £'113 for the Manawatu R.C. Meeting, and £•29 for the Trotting Meeting. It is stated that after Rangipuhi won the M.R,C. Handicap, Utiku Marmnaru was offered and refused £'1000 for the horse. It is expected that the Manawatu Racing Club will make a profit ot about £200 over their recent meeting, and the Trotting Club will probably clear £100 over their meeting. Owners and trainers are reminded that nominations for the Feilding Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting must be in tbe hands of the Secretary, Mr E. Goodbehere, by 8.30 p.m. on Saturday evening next, 10th March. Nominations are also to close on Saturday evening for the Marton Hack Race Meeting on April 11th.
