Southern Shearers' Strike.

(PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION!. Oamaru, March 6. A case of some importance was decided by the Stipendiary Magistrate to-day. Some time ago tweiity-eighi shearers »t Benruore struck work or the ground that the sheep were wet and left tbe station after demanding their money. This was refused, am the men brought a test case intc Court, pleading that a clause in the agreement signed by them, appointing the manager sole judge as to the con dition of the sheep, was arbitrary, that the sheep were wet, and that they had been discharged. The evidence for the defence was that the sheep were dry, that the clause appointing the manager as judge was pointed out to the men before they signed the agreement, and that the men were not discharged. The Magistrate decided against the plaintiffs, and allowed costs of £60 1 4s lOd. The men had shorn 30,000 sheep, and £228 in wiges was involved.
