Robbery on a Racecourse.
There is an old saying that a fool and bis money are soon parted, and an exemplification of this was afforded in an ocenrence on the racecourse on W ednewday. A country resident made good haul by lucky investments on the machine, and was anxious to display his good fortune to everybody by flourishing a bundle of notes before the crowd. An hour or so afterwards be was made painfully aware of the usefulness of Milncr's motto 11 Safe bind, safe find,"' by discovering that two pockets had been cut away, and lie was minus bis cash, amounting to over i?4O. — Standard. (PEB PBESB ASSOCIATION.) Palmebston North. February 28 Mr Miles, Secretary of the Mauawatu R.C., had six A's notes stolen from the drawer of his table this morning. He left the office to see the: finish in the Flying Handicap, and when lie came back the money was gone.
