Feilding Presbyterian Church.

♦ The annual tea meeting of the above was held in the Foresters' Hall last evening and passed off quite as successfully as any of its predecessors. The hall was tastefully decorated for the occasion, and the tables were well laden with the choicest viands. It is needless to say that the guests, about two hundred of whom sat down to tea, did full justice to the good things which were provided by the ladies of the congregation. There were five long tables, presided over by Mrs Stevens and Mrs Watts, Mrs Sorley and Mrs Lethbridge, Misses Manson and Whisker, Mrs Whisker and Miss McPherson, Mrs Allan und Mrs R. J. Thompson. These ladies were ably seconded by several other handsome and attentive young ladies, who materially assisted in making the gathering a success. After the tables had been cleared away a meeting was held, and the usual speeches made. The speakers were the Rev. H. M. Murray, minister of the congregation (who occupied the chair), the Revs. Judkin (Wesleyan, Feilding), Clement (Primitive Methodist, Feilding), DaHison (Baptist, Wellington), aud Pastor Gaustad (Lutheran, of Halcotnbe). The secretary of the committee (Mr J. H. Stevens) read the annual report, and the superintendant of the Sunday School (Mr W. G. Shearer) also gave a report, which was considered very satisfactory. On the motion of Mr J. Munro, seconded by Mr W. Watts, Dr Sorley was re-elected, and Mr R. J. Thompson was elected to fill the vacancies on t.he committee caused by the annual retirement. During the evening the choir, with Mr G. Bartholomew as conductor, and Miss Giesen as organist, most creditably performed several sacred pieces of music. A vote of thanks proposed by Mr J. H. Stevens to the speakers and the ladies was carried by acclamation and the meeting closed with the benediction. Following is the report of the managing committee for the year ending December 31st, 1893 : " The statement of accounts will disclose a healthy financial condition. The nett increases in Sabbath collections for the years 1891, '92 and '93 being £14, £17 and £21 respectively. The committee have consequently been enabled to decide upon an addition of £25 to the stipend. The church and fences have been repainted and repaired at a cost of JE~S, and the question of improving thn light, and the appearance of the inner walls, is under consideration. Miss Giesen and Mr G. Bartholomew have, with much satisfaction to the choir, acted as organist and conductor respectively. Membership and efficiency have so increased as to render it probable that some good music may be put into practice immediately. Dr Sorley and Mr Strachan retire from the committee, the former being eligible
