• (PR* PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, February 24. Three thousand claims for enrolment were received for the City, and close on 1000 for Parnell, Eden, and Manukau. Ten thousand names were struck off the City, Auckland, Parnell, Eden, and Manukau rolls. WstMNOTow, February 25. About 2000 claims for enrolment on the City roll have been received. Chbistghubch, FfthruarT 26. The Prohibition party in the Kaiapoi electorate have chosen the following candidates- to contest the Licensing Election in the Prohibition interest: — Rev H. H. Mathias, Isaac Milson, G. Wallace, P. Harrison, Thos. Wilson, A. Hassall, W r Turner and H. Seed. Bokitika, February 24. The Government has refused the appli. cation of the local bodies for assistance to defray the cost of the licensing elections giving as a reason that there is no appropnation for the purpose, while the Act of last session provides -that the local authoritj shall defray all costs. About 200 names have been struck off the electoral roll owing to deaths and removals. " ;-*'■
